Marketed as “comfortable, sophisticated dining”, View Cucina in the Edgecliff, recently under new ownership, offers a casual menu that’s really a complement to its major asset… the view of the Ohio River and the Kentucky hillside.
I believe the table we had at the river edge of the patio was the delightful result of the fact that my friend, Ewin, resides in the building.
The menu offered perhaps eight entrees, from handmade pasta dishes to duck breast, to salmon and sole and a filet mignon, with nearly as many salad options. It also had a substantial app menu, if the preference is a quick bite and a glass of wine. Dips, hummus, antipasto including cured meats, a taco plate, tempura shrimp and a portobella mushrooom gratin.
Handmade pasta dishes have an elegance and a simplicity all their own, and I’m a lover of the process of making pasta whenever possible. The roasted vegetable lasagna with red pepper sauce was simple, earthy and delicious.
I noticed a buy-one entree, get-one entree free offer on Open Table, every day except Mon from 5:00p to 11:00. It’s a nice restaurant to have in your pocket for a quick, comfortable, thoroughly enjoyable evening.
And the view is free.
